Fast forward to today, the US military’s guiding principle is the “Donroe Doctrine” - Western Hemispheric dominance through “strength”. Whether that be through orders to “kill everybody” aboard alleged drug boats in the Caribbean, abducting the sitting president of a sovereign country (Venezuela) or threatening to take - by force if necessary - a Danish territory off the coast of Canada (Greenland).
